Mélanie Duchaussoy’s technique is based on a direct and demanding relationship with the material. She works mainly with clay, modelling it and deliberately leaving visible traces of her gestures, signs of a conscious and living process. The form is never entirely premeditated: it emerges slowly, through a dialogue between intention and listening to the material. The volumes she creates are often slightly asymmetrical, seeking a fragile balance rather than formal perfection. This discreet tension gives her pieces an organic, almost inhabited presence. Surface occupies a central place in her work. Mélanie Duchaussoy favours sober glazes, with mineral and natural tones, which never completely cover the clay but reveal its texture.
