Three figures inhabit this large, luminous canvas, without ever quite meeting. On the left, a reclining body seems to drift into a half-sleep; on the right, a fragmented, standing figure stands alongside a face curled up in on itself. Between them, a stream of bright yellow radiates from the bottom of the painting like a source of warmth or unease. The technique of acrylic on paper mounted on wood allows Philippe Croq to freely layer the paint, traces and erasures, giving the surface a vibrant depth. The background, divided into light and grey areas, reinforces this sense of parallel inner worlds, of beings coexisting without seeing one another, united by the painting alone.
