Christiane Filliatreau mainly uses two hand modelling techniques to create her ceramic sculptures:

• The pellet technique
• Dovetail technique

These methods emphasise gesture and finger touch, allowing the artist to feel, roll, press, smooth and assemble the elements. Christiane Filliatreau prefers these manual techniques to the potter’s wheel, as they enable her to have more direct contact with the material and develop more organic, sculptural forms.
