Thoma Ryse works with a very broad, vivid palette; color is central to his approach and considered a language in its own right, inspired by the Fauves and Matisse. He sees colors as “companions”, creating an inner dialogue during the creative process.
He superimposes colors in successive layers to create depth, vitality and contrast. This superimposition sometimes reveals transparencies and plays of light, made possible by reflections on the metal.
