Jean-Louis Bessède’s art explores a variety of subjects:

• Anonymous figures and mythical characters in the history of art
• Primitive and cosmogonic themes
• Depictions of animals
• His style combines elements of graphic art, primitivism and a bold use of colour.

These elements are rendered using a complex mixed-media technique, combining various materials and processes, which lends his works a dimension that is both primitive and contemporary, rooted in the collective imagination whilst remaining deeply personal.
