In this work, Philippe Croq creates a gentle tension between presence and disappearance. A silhouette sketched in black line rises from the left edge of the canvas, as if drawn towards an undefined space. Around it float fragments — detached legs, enigmatic objects, an overturned cup — all signs of a fragmented everyday life. The paper mounted on wood lends the surface a subtle texture, responsive to the artist’s revisions and layers of glazing, playing with the light in shades of ochre and misty grey. The word “moved”, inscribed simply in the lower section, suspends the meaning between emotion and displacement. A painting that questions what we leave behind, and what we take with us.
