Un petit paradis

Here, collage enters into a dialogue with drawing. Fragments of newspapers, graph paper and everyday texts slip in beneath the figures like so many layers of collective memory. A child’s silhouette dominates the composition—alive, questioning—surrounded by a sketched donkey, blurred figures and scattered symbols.
The title says everything and nothing at all: A Little Paradise. Not the grand, ideal, unattainable one — but that of everyday life, of a child’s view of the world, of the simple coexistence between humans and animals. Jean-Louis Bessède’s world is encapsulated here in its entirety: a blend of innocence and gravity, chaos and tenderness, writing and memory.
