Three columns rise up, close together yet distinct. Between them, slender slits of light trace undulating white lines that make the whole structure vibrate like strings stretched towards the sky.
What appears to be wood — with its grain, its striations, its depth — is in fact kraft paper. Jean-François Auber layers it, impregnates it, and treats it until it takes on the solidity and appearance of wood, challenging our perception of the material.
Set upon a dark, solid base, the sculpture plays on contrasts: the lightness of the material and the illusion of weight, the unity of the block and the fragmentation of forms, its anchoring to the ground and its upward thrust.
Minimalist and sensual, it expresses what words can only begin to convey.
