A ruined building stood in the countryside, a former nightclub. It was a gigantic structure, combining neo-Gothic and ancient Egyptian styles in a haphazard pastiche. The building was covered in graffiti, which disappeared over the weeks under new layers of tags. Alain Schwarzstein often wandered around this building, photographing these ephemeral paintings.
Between photography and visual arts, his photographs play on colour, the texture of the walls and the almost spectral presence of the characters, as if cinema were prolonging the life of street art before it disappeared.
