Mélanie Duchaussoy’s technique is based on a direct and demanding relationship with the material. She works primarily with clay through modelling, deliberately leaving certain traces of her hand visible—signs of a conscious and dynamic process. The form is never entirely premeditated: it emerges slowly, through a dialogue between intention and listening to the material.
The forms she creates are often slightly asymmetrical, seeking a fragile balance rather than formal perfection. This subtle tension gives her pieces an organic, almost inhabited presence.
The surface plays a central role in her work. Mélanie Duchaussoy favours understated glazes, with mineral and natural tones, which never completely cover the clay but reveal its texture.
